Looking for a dependable, entry-to-mid-level mountain bike that’s ready for light-to-moderate singletrack, fire roads, or local trail loops? The Trail X A1 delivers a quality ride without an inflated price tag — perfect for beginners, casual riders, or anyone who wants a no-fuss hardtail that just works. Built with a strong aluminum frame, modern features, and reliable components, this bike is an excellent balance of practicality and value.

Key Features & Component Highlights

  • Frame: 6061-series aluminum hardtail frame, with oversized & tapered tubing for added stiffness and durability. Frame includes a zero-stack internal headset, replaceable derailleur hanger, and dual water-bottle mounts — useful touches that riders often appreciate on longer rides.

  • Fork: SR Suntour XCT 30 HLO suspension fork, 27.5" wheels, coil-spring with hydraulic lock-out and external preload adjustor, offering 100 mm of travel to smooth out bumps and dirt roads while keeping the ride efficient for climbs.

  • Wheels & Tires: Alex TD26 27.5” double-wall rims with alloy 6-bolt disc hubs and 32-hole build for extra strength. Equipped with CST Patrol 27.5” × 2.25” tires — a capable, all-purpose tread for mixed terrain.

  • Drivetrain: microSHIFT Advent 1×9-speed drivetrain with 11–42T cassette and 32T forged-alloy crankset. Simple, reliable shifting and a good gear range for climbs, flats, and descents.

  • Brakes: Hydraulic disc brakes (Shimano MT200 with 160 mm rotors) for solid stopping power and consistent performance in wet or variable conditions — an upgrade over rim brakes often found on low-end bikes.

  • Cockpit & Comfort: Jamis XC alloy riser handlebar (31.8 mm, moderate rise) and stem for stable, predictable handling. Jamis ATB Sport saddle and alloy micro-adjust seatpost provide comfort and adjustability. Pedals are standard platform — solid for most riders.

Why Trail X A1 Is a Smart Choice

  • Entry-level price, real mountain-bike parts: You get quality frame tubing, suspension fork, hydraulic disc brakes, and a 1× drivetrain — few bikes at this price point offer that balance.

  • Light and nimble for XC and mixed-terrain riding: 27.5″ wheels and a responsive geometry make the Trail X A1 easy to handle on fire-roads, dirt paths, and smoother singletrack.

  • Low maintenance & rider-friendly: A hardtail frame and simple drivetrain keeps upkeep minimal and costs down, making it a good first “real” mountain bike.

  • Great for beginners or riders upgrading from hybrid or entry-level bikes: Whether you’re new to off-road riding or just want a solid commuter that can handle trails and local rides, this bike has you covered.

Just Right!
Format: Hardcover
Now in its second edition, this book by Terry G. Carter, J. Scott Duvall, and J. Daniel Hayes lives up to its subtitle: a hands-on approach to preparing, developing, and delivering the sermon. It strikes me as a success because of its clear value as a first textbook for someone learning how to put together a sermon. It does better than most at keeping a big-picture view as it assembles the pieces of the sermon. There are other books that, perhaps, dive deeper into the details – the works of Jerry Vines comes to mind – but this one may be “just right” for a wide array of readers. The book is divided into three parts: eight chapters on developing and preaching a sermon, three chapters on preaching the New Testament, and four chapters on preaching the Old Testament. Duvall and Hays had earlier produced a hermeneutics textbook entitled Grasping God’s Word, which is also published by Zondervan, so this book assumes an understanding of hermeneutics and goes straight into putting together a sermon after that work has been done. The first chapter introduces their 11-step sermon process. Chapter 2 covers the first five steps: grasp the meaning of the text in their town, measure the width of the interpretive river, cross the principlizing bridge, consult the biblical map, and grasp the text in our town. As you can see, they word this information in practical terms aimed at our maximum understanding. Again, they avoid being either too shallow or too deep and succeed at being “just right”. After all that wonderful help for putting the sermon together, the other two parts on the Old and New Testaments look at the genres and their unique challenges for the preacher found in each. Most of these were wonderful. The value of the chapter on preaching Revelation might correspond to your own prophetic viewpoint. Actually, they tell you that that might be the case when you preach the Book of Revelation. If you’ve been called to preach and are trying to figure out how to put a sermon together, you owe it to yourself to check this book out. I received this book free from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

Great reference
Format: Paperback
I used this reference a good but when I was new to practice in a walk-in clinic. From animal bites to corneal abrasions to toenail avulsions, it gave concise treatment recommendations that helped me through my cases. While I need to rely on it a lot less now, I did purchase this to update an older edition and I’ve been equally happy with it
